The AGGA has close and continuing relationships with government bodies at both state and federal level. While the Building Code of Australia (BCA) is gazetted for Nation-wide use, each state chooses whether or not to adopt the provisions in whole or in part. For example, the Australian Standard covering the use and selection of glass is AS1288. this Standard has been adopted by the BCA and has been adopted in all states and territories of Australia. On the other hand, energy standards adopted at federal level have yet to be fully implemented in all states and territories. It is one of the AGGA’s responsibilities to ensure that state governments and other regulatory bodies have sufficient information to allow the greatest chance of providing appropriate and productive regulations.
