News Article - 'Glassmaker sees carbon cutting jobs'

Brisbane Courier Mail, Sunday 31 July: A QLD glass and glazing family company has warned of local job losses in the wake of a carbon tax.

"If it was to come in, the thing local manufacturers have to look at is if it's cost-effective for us to still make products or whether we simply import it like everyone else. That's where it will come down to local job losses if that decision is made," Acacia Ridge-based City Glass manager Brad Dixon said.

"Any extra production cost that we encounter at the moment simply widens the gap between us and the overseas suppliers that aren't subject to it, and at the moment the strength of our dollar is complicating things."
